Young Geometric Group Theory XV
Date: 7 - 11 June 2027
Location: ICMAT, Madrid
Event type: Workshop
Organisers: Macarena Arenas (University of Cambridge); Sam Fisher (ICMAT, Madrid); Alejandra Garrido (UCM, Madrid); Marco Linton (ICMAT, Madrid); Claudio Llosa Isenrich (Univ. of Luxembourg); Rachel Skipper (University of Utah)
Geometric group theory studies the interactions between groups and geometry. These interactions often arise by viewing groups as symmetries of mathematical objects. This means that geometric group theory has links to many areas of modern mathematics and as such it has quickly developed into a very active and diverse area of mathematics, since its foundation as an independent discipline in the 1980s.
Young Geometric Group Theory (YGGT) is a series of high-profile conferences that form a centrepiece of the yearly calendar in geometric group theory. It will bring together a large group of early-career researchers and a selection of distinguished senior mathematicians, providing them with the opportunity to meet, discuss their work, exchange ideas and learn about the newest developments in the field. This is achieved through a variety of activities, including mini-courses delivered by distinguished researchers, plenary talks by early career researchers, discussion sessions and a poster session.
