Higgs Bundles and Geometry

Date: 28 June - 2 July 2027

Location: University of Porto

Event type: Workshop

Organisers: André Oliveira; Rodrigo Pereira

Website: sites.google.com/view/higgs-bundles-geometry/home

Higgs bundles have become one of the central objects in modern geometry. Since their introduction through Hitchin’s self-duality equations, they have provided a common language linking algebraic and differential geometry, gauge theory, representation theory, integrable systems, non-abelian Hodge theory, mirror symmetry and mathematical physics.

Higgs Bundles and Geometry will be a conference devoted to Higgs bundles and related topics. It will focus on current developments around moduli spaces of Higgs bundles, the Hitchin fibration, character varieties and flat connections, higher Teichmüller theory, Langlands duality, branes, quantization, hyperkähler structures, geometric structures and other topics.

The meeting will take place in Porto, Portugal, from 28 June to 2 July 2027. It will bring together leading experts and younger researchers, and the programme will consist of invited lectures.
