2019 Oswald Veblen Prize

The 2019 Oswald Veblen Prize in Geometry will be awarded to Simon Donaldson, Xiuxiong Chen and Song Sun for their three-part series, “Kähler-Einstein metrics on Fano manifolds, I, II, and III,” published in 2015 in the Journal of the American Mathematical Society.  Professor Donaldson has been a member of CMI’s Scientific Advisory Board since 2002.

IMU President

Professor Carlos Kenig has been elected President of the International Mathematical Union’s Executive Committee for a term of four years beginning 2019.  The President oversees all aspects of the IUM and Executive Committee and chairs the Fields Medal Committee. Professor Kenig has been a member of CMI’s Scientific Advisory Board since 2015.

Michael Brin Prize

Clay Research Fellow Alex Wright has been awarded the Michael Brin Dynamical Systems Prize for Young Mathematicians for his fundamental work on the Teichmüller geometry and dynamics of moduli space on Riemann surfaces, especially on the classification of SL(2,R)-invariant orbifolds, and the discovery of unexpected examples.

Andrew Wiles Appointed Regius Professor of Mathematics at Oxford
