This mini-conference is being held in honor of George Lusztig on the occasion of his retirement. Professor Lusztig is a towering figure of representation theory whose contributions have shaped core areas of the subject. The mini-conference offers an excellent opportunity to summarize the state of the art in these areas and provides a venue for exchange of ideas stimulating further progress in the subject.
