Groups St Andrews 2027

This conference aims to present new developmetns from all parts of group theory and to provide an opportunity for early career researchers and doctoral students in group theory to discuss their research with international experts and to present their own work to a broad audience.  

Principal speakers at the 2027 event will be Tim Burness (Bristol), Ruth Charney (Brandeis), Gabriel Navarro (València), and George Willis (Newcastle, Australia).  Plenary speakers include Sean Eberhard (Warwick), Benjamin Klopsch (Düsseldorf), Ian Leary (Southampton), Mandi Schaeffer Fry (Denver), and Mima Stanojkovski (Trento).

Geometric Analysis and Functional Analysis (GAFA)

Functional analysis and its applications in natural sciences and industry is one of the flagship mathematical disciplines of Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries. There are traditional mathematical schools in different cities which actively interact, active cooperation with mathematicians abroad, summer schools for students, traditional annual conferences (e.g. the “April conference” at IMMM, Almaty), etc. Recently, it has become apparent that one can effectively combine this expertise with geometric analysis and, more specifically, with (global and local) differential geometry.

The goal of this conference is to bring these two groups of experts together to exchange ideas and share methods for studying various problems, applying these new ideas and methods in their specific research projects.

New Methods in Finsler Geometry: Indefinite Structures, Metric-Symplectic Techniques and Applications

By replacing the notion of Riemannian (‘quadratic’) metric with the most general viable notion of arc length, Finsler geometry enlarges the foundations of differential geometry and opens structurally new directions in geometric analysis and gravitational theory, while offering a rigorous framework adaptable to complex systems arising in other sciences, such as medicine and environmental sciences. This meeting intends to reflect the two-way interaction between Finsler geometry and other disciplines.

Finite Dimensional Integrable Systems in Geometry and Mathematical Physics (FDIS)

Many natural and prominent problems in the theory of integrable systems were solved by mathematicians from outside the field, i.e., by researchers who do not consider integrable systems their main area of research. Typically, the related fields are Riemannian geometry, algebraic geometry, symplectic geometry, partial differential equations, or mathematical physics. The goal of this conference is to bring such people together to exchange ideas and share methods for the study of various problems in integrable systems, applying these new ideas and methods in their own research projects.

39th British Topology Meeting

The British Topology Meeting brings together researchers from algebraic, geometric, and low-dimensional topology and neighbouring areas. It aims to foster a national topology community, strengthen connections among participants, welcome new attendees in an inclusive environment, and showcase the breadth of current research in topology.

Journeés Arithmétiques 2027

Established in 1960 in Grenoble at the initiative of Claude Chabauty, the Journées Arithmétiques is a major scientific event traditionally held every two years. This international meeting brings together between 200 and 250 participants, primarily early-career researchers in number theory from France, Europe, and worldwide, alongside world-renowned plenary speakers. It provides a platform for researchers across various branches of number theory to meet and gain an overview of the latest advancements in the field.

French-Japanese Conference on Arithmetic Geometry in Honor of Takeshi Saito and Takeshi Tsuji

Arithmetic Geometry is a vibrant and active area of research that has long been a cornerstone of Franco-Japanese collaboration in mathematics. The most recent joint conferences took place at CIRM in 2022, in the form of a Franco-Asian summer school, and in Lyon in 2025. In continuity with these meetings, the organisers aim to take stock of recent developments through a conference that will honor two leading figures in this partnership: Professor Takeshi Saito, on the occasion of his retirement, and Professor Takeshi Tsuji, on the occasion of his 60th birthday–both affiliated with the University of Tokyo.

Algebraic Geometry, Automorphic Forms, Number Theory and Geometric Representation Theory

This conference is dedicated to the memory of Gérard Laumon who had a very strong influence on the mathematics of his time. In algebraic geometry, he introduced a version of the Fourier transform in étale cohomology and used it to give a proof of Weil’s conjectures. In the field of automorphic forms, he proved, with Rapoport and Stuhler, the local Langlands conjecture for equal characteristic local fields, by investigating the cohomology of spaces of local Stukas. He introduced key ideas in the global geometric Langlands program, and produced candidates for the Hecke eigensheaves, known as Laumon sheaves. He played a key role in the proof of the fundamental Lemma, including the weighted version which is necessary for the stabilization of Arthur’s trace formula.

This conference will gather international experts working on different aspects of the Langlands program, on the theory of automorphic forms, and on geometric representation theory, many of whom have been Laumon’s students or collaborators.

Fibrations in Group Theory and Topology

The study of fibrations in hyperbolic manifolds and groups is experiencing a period of remarkable growth. Classical techniques have been refined and adapted, allowing new higher dimensional examples to be built, and the interplay between geometry and cohomology has significantly expanded the toolkit available for a more algebraic approach.

The aim of this conference is to gather together experts in the area to connect different methods and techniques and to outline a plan to tackle the main open questions in the field.

Billiards and Stars: Geometry and Dynamics

This conference will explore profound connections and reciprocal insights between the seemingly disparate fields of mathematical billiard dynamics and celestial mechanics. In both areas the geometric and symplectic tools play crucial role, and the description of periodic orbits, caustics and singularities of the solutions, conditions for the emergence of chaos often lead to the appearance of very general universal methods.

Fostering the cross-pollination of these two domains is the main goal of the conference. It is also informally devoted to the joint 70th birthday of the two finest specialists on those respective domains, billiards and celestial mechanics: Sergei Tabachnikov (PennState U) and Richard Montgomery (UC Santa Cruz).

The meeting will bring together researchers working at the intersection of geometry, dynamical systems, and mathematical physics, with applications to non- holonomic dynamics and theoretical robotics.

String Math 2026

String-Math is the largest and most prestigious annual event at the interface between pure mathematics and theoretical physics, bringing together mathematicians and physicists whose work lies at the interface between string theory, quantum field theory, and mathematics. The conferences keep a rough balance between physics and mathematics, with the aim of stimulating interactions between the two communities. The schedule may include ‘paired talks’ by mathematicians and physicists on the same topic, as well as open or focused discussion sessions.
