Michael Harris received his BA in 1973 from Princeton University and his Ph.D. in 1977 from Harvard University under the direction of Barry Mazur. From 1977 to 1994 he held positions at Brandeis University, where he was professor 1989-94. Since 1994 he has been a professor at the Université de Paris. Harris was awarded a Sloan Fellowshiop in 1982, and the Grand Prix Sophie Germain de l' Académie des Sciences, 2006. Harris is a Member of the Institut Universitaire de France, 2001-2011.
