This conference is dedicated to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Israel Moiseevich Gelfand (1913-2009), one of the greatest mathematicians of the 20th century. Gelfand made fundamental contributions to many areas of mathematics, and created a large and prominent school. He always emphasized unity of mathematics, and stressed that a mathematician should study new mathematics all of their life.
