Math Predicts
Wednesday, November 3, 2004
To increase public awareness of mathematics, CMI exhibited five posters in the Boston T stations and trains during the month of November, 2004. This one is about the power of mathematics to predict weather, climate change, and the behavior of financial markets.
The Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge, England developed and first published these posters in the London Underground as part of a series for World Mathematical Year 2000. The Clay Mathematics Institute subsequently selected these four posters from a suite of twelve to reproduce as 21 x 22 inch car cards to go inside "Red Line" trains.
