Folio 156: AAL to ADM
St James' Sqre
Tuesday. 5 o'clock
P. S. Excuse my materials.
Dear Mr De Morgan. In
much haste, I write to tell
you that I must adjourn
the proposed engagement for
Monday next, until Monday
week; owing to an unforeseen
obstacle for next Monday
afternoon. You have very
probably already written
to me; & if so, I shall (to
save you trouble) take it
for granted if I do not hear,
[156v] that the hour fixed will
be for the Monday week
instead.
I was obliged to stay in
Town last night, unexpectedly;
but am just setting out..
I was very glad to
find Mr De Morgan so
well & cheerful, & moreover
that she approved of a
proposition I made her;
(not a proposition of our
particular kind however).
I remain
Yours very truly
A. A. L
