CMI Workshop:
Stringy Reflections on LHC

October 13 – 16, 2008

The purpose of this workshop is to bring together leading string theorists and mathematical physicists on the one hand, and particle phenomenologists on the other hand, to discuss issues of relevance to the LHC and more broadly the application of stringy and geometric ideas to concrete particle physics. These include deeper understanding of string compactifications such as heterotic strings on Calabi-Yau 3-folds with gauge bundles, M-theory on G2 holonomy manifolds and F-theory on Calabi-Yau 4-folds, as well as further exploring the geometric aspects of D-branes and duality cascades, with an eye towards LHC applications. The focus will be on ways to connect string geometry with the observable phenomenological data expected to emerge from LHC.
