Richard Hamilton


Richard Hamilton (b. 1943) received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1966 under the direction of Robert Gunning. He is Professor of Mathematics at Columbia University and has held positions at UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and Cornell University. In 1996 Richard Hamilton was awarded the Oswald Veblen Prize of the American Mathematical Society, and is a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and of the National Academy of Sciences.
