Operator Algebras
Date: 2000/8/24 - 9/2
Location: MSRI
This workshop introduces graduate students and other mathematicians to the exciting area of Operator Algebras. It will feature three series of introductory lectures and a number of one hour lectures on recent research topics followed by informal discussions.
The main lecture series will be:
Richard V. Kadison
The Theory of Operator Algebras - A Survey
Mihai Pimsner
introduction to K-theory for Operator AlgebrasAntony Wassermann/Valerio Toledano
Operator Algebras and Conformal Field TheoryIn addition, Fields Medalist Vaughan Jones will present several introductory lectures.
Funding is available: Students, recent PhDs, women, and minorities are particularly encouraged to apply. To apply, send a letter explaining your interest in the workshop. If you are a student, solicit a letter from a faculty advisor. Otherwise, send a current vita or biliography. All information should be received by June 2.
