Clay Research Scholars are supported on research projects of up to one year. An appication should consist of

- Curriculum vita
- Publication list
- Letters of reference
Proposals are evaluated on their intellectual merit by the Scientific Advisory Board. This program is not intended to support regular research visits or routine collaborations, but rather to allow the CMI to respond quickly and flexibly to exceptional circumstances in a way that other funding bodies are sometimes unable to do.
