Akshay Venkatesh

Akshay Venkatesh completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Western Australia, Perth, and finished his PhD in 2002 under the direction of Peter Sarnak at Princeton University. For the last two years he has held a CLE Moore Instructorship at MIT, and in the year 2004-2005 he will visit the Courant Institute. His mathematical interests center around number theory and automorphic forms. At present he is particularly interested in equidistribution questions on homogeneous spaces, and the interplay between ergodic and spectral techniques.
